Roser Rise

Hi Gaiters! 

I’m Roser Rise, a second-year honours student in International Studies with a minor in German. I grew up in the Eastern Townships but am originally from Barcelona, Spain. Feel free to reach out in Spanish or French if you wish! 

I am the current Vice-President of Academic Affairs, so you can come to me with any academic issues or ideas you may have. 

I am doing this role because I am passionate about helping fellow students in their academic endeavors, as well as representing them and advocating for their interest at a university level.

Position Description: 

The Vice-President of Academic Affairs (VPAA): 

• is a voting member of the University Senate, the Academic Standing and Admissions Policy Committee of Senate, the Teaching and Learning Centre Committee of Senate, and the Senate Planning Committee. 

• serves as the Presidential Alternate for the purposes of the Bylaws 

• serves on other internal BSR and university committees as listed in the Policies, named by the Appointments Committee, or otherwise appointed. 

• is responsible for seeing that there are students sitting on all Senate and Academic Departmental Committees in the University and present these names to the Appointments Committee 

• acts as a coordinator of the student Senators and reports to the BSR on their progress, acts as the liaison between the membership and the BSR for academic matters, and is responsible for addressing student academic complaints to the SRC and ensuring that they are adequately resolved. 

• coordinates the publication of the Mitre and liaises with the Editor, at minimum, once a semester. 

• presents a report at each BSR meeting concerning the affairs of their portfolio and submits an annual report to the BSR on all projects and operations during their term of office.
