The BUSRC Student Life Department is overseen by the Vice-President of Student Life. The Student Life Department includes nine Student Representatives and 2 General Councillors who collaborate on projects and advocate for different aspects of student life on campus.
The nine Student Representatives and two General Councillors all represent various portions of the larger student body. The group consists of a First-Year Rep, an On-Campus Rep, a Diversity & Inclusion Rep, an Environmental Sustainability Rep, an Equity Rep, a Health & Wellness Rep, an Indigenous Student Rep, an International Student Rep, and last but not least, a Sexual Culture Rep. With the help of the Student Representatives and General Councilors who raise student concerns, the Vice-President of Student Life aims to advocate for and represent the student body on any matter relating to student life and initiatives.
To gather information on the student population they are representing, all Student Representatives are expected to complete at least two outreach initiatives per month. The goal of these two initiatives is to reach out to students, discuss with them, and ask questions. These initiatives represent an opportunity to learn more about students’ situations to better represent them at Board Meetings, around campus, and beyond.

On June 28th, 2021, the Bishop’s University Pride Alliance and the SRC collaborated to inaugurate the first Pride crosswalk on campus between the Student Centre and Morris House. A second one was inaugurated at a later date between the Paterson and Munster residence buildings. The crosswalks symbolize inclusivity and aim to remind the community that hate is not tolerated on our campus. Both crosswalks are touched up yearly. Learn more here.
In 2022-2023, sponsorships were secured to offer students free care packs during final exam season in both the fall and winter semesters. They aim to support students through the stressful period by highlighting the importance of well-being. The packs contain a multitude of items such as writing supplies, snacks to munch on, affirmation words, and more.
Throughout her term as VP of Student Life for the 2023-2024 academic year, Olivia Woods, who is passionate about sexual health, began working on the Menstrual Equity Project (MEP) with the help of the MEP Committee. The initiative’s aim is to fight menstrual inequality and period poverty by making menstrual products more easily accessible and inclusive. The project was split into 3 phases. The first phase involved stocking certain bathrooms around campus with single-use products for emergency purposes. The second phase revolved around educating the student body about menstruation and reusable products. And the third phase aimed to distribute free reusable products such as menstrual cups and reusable pads to Bishop’s students, allowing for a more financially and environmentally sustainable impact.
