Expected Hours: 25-30 hours per week
Salary: $13,525 annually, paid in biweekly installments
Description:
The SRC President is the elected Chief Executive Officer of the Students’ Representative Council of Bishop’s University. They oversee the general management of six major SRC departments (Academic, Student Life, Events, Finance, External Affairs, and Communications & Marketing). The President oversees all student representation. The SRC President represents the student body on the Board of Governors of Bishop’s University. The President sits as Chair of the Executive Council (President, VP Academic, VP Student Life, VP External Affairs, Director of Finance, Director of Events, and Director of Communication & Marketing) of the SRC and is responsible (in consultation with other SRC members) for setting meeting dates, and all broad-scale organizational duties. The President also sits as Chair of the SRC’s Board of Student Representatives. The SRC President acts as the general liaison between the student body and BU Admin and Faculty.
Requirements:
- Must be a full-time or part-time degree student at Bishop’s University, enrolled for 2022-23
- Must be present at Bishop’s University from May 1, 2022 – April 30, 2023
Nature of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing both overall and departmental vision throughout the SRC, in consultation with the SRC Board of Student Representatives.
- Oversight and management of all SRC events, including Orientation Week.
- Hiring of SRC Directors, in collaboration with a hiring committee.
- Chair of weekly Executive Council meetings.
- Chair of Orientation Week Advisory Committee.
- Ex-officio Chair of Committee on Life at the University (Standing Board Committee).
- Serve on other internal BSR and University committees as listed in the policies, named by the Appointments Committee, or otherwise appointed;
- Management and oversight of all student representative positions at the university.
- Overall coordination of six SRC departments – Academic, Student Life, Events, External Affairs, Finance, and Communications & Marketing.
- Liaison between Bishop’s University administration and student body.
- Ensuring adherence to SRC bylaws and policies in all practices.
- Acting as a primary representative between BUSRC and outside parties.
- The President must actively participate in training the newly-elected President during the winter semester and must submit an end-of-year report to the BSR on all projects, affairs and operations of the SRC during their term of office.
