Job Title: Floor Staff (Gait & Special Events)
Term of Employment: September 2026-June 2027, with the possibility of reemployment
Expected Hours: 0-20 hours per week
Hourly Wage: Starting at $16.75
Summary: The BUSRC (Bishop’s University Students’ Representative Council) is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to fill a position as Floor Staff at the Gait. Supervised by the marshals and directed by security during each shift, the incumbent will provide for the safety of persons, buildings, and property at the campus bar and special campus events. This position – starting the beginning of September- has a variable workweek of 0-20 hours, and the working hours will vary, but consist mostly of evenings and nights, with occasional daytime shifts on weekends.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Must be a full-time or part-time student at Bishop’s University, for 2026-2027.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Must be in good standing with Campus Security and VP of Student Affairs’ office.
- Experience in security such as a doorman, bouncer, etc. an asset
- At a minimum, must be available to work on Thursday, Friday, OR Saturday nights.
- Bilingual (English & French) is an asset.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs.
Nature of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work alongside Security Marshalls and On-Campus Security to ensure safety of students;
- Responds to incidents with vocal assertion;
- Display diplomacy as often as possible when dealing with incidents;
- Protects the property of the bar/event from vandalism, theft and unauthorized use;
- Removes disorderly patrons from the bar/event as needed;
- Performs additional similar/related task as required.
