The Women in Business Society (WIBS) is a dedicated community at Bishop’s University focused on uplifting, connecting, and preparing our members for success. We go beyond theory by hosting networking events with recruiters and alumni, skill-building workshops (from pitching to professional etiquette), and creating supportive spaces like study groups and social gatherings. Our mission is to foster confidence, combat imposter syndrome, and build a powerful network that helps women thrive in their academic and professional journeys. Bad Movie Club

A gathering of film and movie enjoyers coming together in union to appreciate and mock films of the old (or new). We will screen some c/d tier movies and provide scathing remarks. Practice your improv abilities by trying your hand at on-the-spot commentary. Meet new people with similar interests!

BIG BUDDIES

Bishop’s University’s Big Buddies is a program that matches university students (Bigs) with students grades 1-6 from the Eastern Townships (Littles) based on questions determining similar characteristics in Littles and Bigs – allowing for the best match possible. We organize eight events throughout the year which are held on Saturday afternoons on the Bishop’s University campus, or at a fun field trip destination. During this time, the pairs participate in exciting activities together, allowing time to create strong friendships, and positive role models.

The Bishop’s Outdoors Club offers services to Bishop’s students with the aim of making outdoor activities more accessible. We are low-commitment, as students can attend as many or as few events as they wish, and the executive team organizes carpooling and logistics for all of our trips. We organize activities spanning a large range of outdoor activities with hiking being our most frequent, but also including canoeing, rock climbing, ice climbing, biking, snowshoeing, overnight camping, etc. We are always open to suggestions and expanding our repertoire of activities and all are welcome to join in on our events!

The Bishop’s University Ski and Snowboard Club (BU Snow) was founded in 2006 by a group of rambunctious, outdoorsy and fun students looking to expand skiing and snowboarding to members of the Bishop’s community. We hold those values dear to our hearts as we continue spreading stoke to all our members. We have a mandate to ensure fun to all those who join us for our events, so we hope to see you out there!

We are a club dedicated to promoting environmental and sustainability awareness at Bishop’s University! We focus on planning and organizing environmentally themed events and want to connect people with an interest in the environment! 

GAMES CLUB

We play board games, card games, occasionally TTRPGs, do puzzles, and other such pursuits. We have plenty of our own games, but you are welcome to bring your own games as well. Pretty casual, friendly atmosphere, there are usually snacks and drinks provided, and no alcohol.

The SAFS Club is a student organization to promote sustainability through agriculture and food systems activities. By cooperating with the Educational farm, we offer workshops such as harvesting produce, permaculture practices, Maple syrup production, and foraging excursions.

CHAOS AND CREATIVITY

Chaos and Creativity, formally Englit, is your place to destress and make friends! We love doing chaotic activities like crafts, jack box, video/board games, murder mystery parties and many more activities. We’re a small club and seek to build community by allowing all of our members to be themselves. We meet weekly on Tuesdays or Fridays, with occasional field trips on the weekend. All are welcome!

Best Buddies is an organization committed to the community and volunteering. While affiliated with the Dixville Foundation, we plan to plan and execute activities with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and people on the autism spectrum. By creating these friendships with Dixville’s members, as best buddies you are actively improving the quality of life of the individuals, while also promoting inclusion withing a group that is often isolated.  

WIT AND WHIMSY (POETRY CLUB)

Wit and Whimsy is a club that provides a safe space for students to express themselves through their art. We share poetry and help each other through constructive criticism. We host open mics for everyone to get a chance to showcase what they have written during club meetings. Join us to turn your creative mind into beautiful poetry! 

COOKING CLUB

The Bishop’s Cooking Club allows for students to master cooking skills, explore diverse cuisines, and create affordable, delicious meals with confidence. We are a low commitment group, allowing students, faculty and staff the ability to attend as many or as little cooking sessions as they please. Our sessions cover a wide range of culinary experiences, including full meals, baking and creating appetizers.

MOTIONBALL FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS CANADA

motionball UBishop’s is part of a national not-for-profiit organization with a goal to come together through sport and social events. Through our events we fundraise for Special Olympics Canada. Furthermore we use education to spread the #NoGoodWay campaign, advocating to end the use of the R-word across Canada.

The Creative Writing Club is a workshopping group for anyone interested in writing plays, poetry, prose, and more. We meet once a week to write and share our writing in a supportive environment. Drop in once or come every week, it’s up to you!

The Happy Hour Club is a social group on campus that holds games and activities during The Gait’s happy hour on Tuesday and Thursday nights. This new club is here to promote the events happening at our on-campus watering hole. Happy Hour Club is open to all students on a drop-in basis so students can attend when it suits their schedule. 

OFF-CAMPUS SOCIAL CLUB

A social club for students living off of the Bishop’s campus and their families in order to create opportunities for making and maintaining friendships within the community. We aim to foster partnerships with other clubs to introduce people to the various opportunities available at Bishop’s. On-campus students and students’ children welcome (we will have activities and snacks for them).
