Event Details
Drawing from the memoir of survivor Walter W. Igersheimer and his own extensive research, Ian Darragh chronicles the harrowing experience of Jewish refugees who were deemed enemies and imprisoned in internment camps in Sherbrooke and other locations across Canada during the Second World War.
Among the refugees interned at Camp N in Sherbrooke were doctors, musicians, artists, engineers, architects, and professors who sought to support the Allied cause. Despite facing harsh and sometimes hostile treatment in Canada, these internees demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination.
Mr. Darragh will address members of the campus community as part of Humanities Week on Wednesday, November 6 at 3 PM in the Cleghorn Room.
Mr. Darragh will also give a presentation at Hope Community Church on Wednesday, November 6, at 7 PM. Admission is free and all are welcome.
