Hi Bishop’s! My name is Sofia Fata, and I am so excited to be serving as your Education Senator this year. I am currently in Elementary Education, and throughout my time here, the School of Education has become such an important part of my life. Between practicum experiences, classes, and the incredible people I have met along the way, this community has truly helped shape the person and future teacher I hope to become.
I have always loved being involved on campus and finding ways to bring people together. As Education Senator, my goal is to help make the Education department feel even more connected, supportive, and welcoming for all students. This year, I hope to organize social events, networking opportunities, and initiatives that allow students to connect not only with one another, but also with professors, alumni, and others within the field of education. I would love to help create more opportunities for students to learn from graduates who have already entered the profession and hear about their experiences as educators.
Most importantly, I want students to feel heard and represented throughout the year. I hope to be someone students can come to with ideas, concerns, or suggestions, and I am excited to work alongside both students and faculty to continue building a strong and supportive community within Education.
I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait for the year ahead. Please never hesitate to reach out or say hi, I would love to connect with you!
