Safe Drive Team Lead

Salary: $17/hour
Hours: Approximately 8 to 12 hours per week.
Term of Employment: September 2024 – April 2025
Job Summary:
- Managing the day-to-day work of the Safe Drive team, reporting to the SRC President and the Safe Drive Ad Hoc Committee
- Scheduling the Safe Drive team members’ shifts, including managing scheduling changes
- Compiling the data from the nightly usage reports and submitting a weekly usage report
- Managing issues such as scheduling conflicts, responding to employees’ questions, filling the vehicle with gas when needed
- Being the primary liaison between the service and employees and the SRC President and the Safe Drive Ad Hoc Committee
- The Safe Drive Team Lead (SDTL) will work at minimum one scheduled shift a week in the car, which includes these responsibilities:
- Providing students with safe transportation to locations within the Lennoxville community, including from on-campus to on-campus points, and on-campus to off-campus points within a 4-kilometre radius
- Tracking the use of the vehicle by recording student identification cards and submitting usage reports at the end of each shift
- Bringing students to other service locations when needed, such as Safe Haven and/or Security
Requirements:
- Must be a current student at Bishop’s University, enrolled for the 2024-2025 academic term.
- Must possess a full driver’s license (meaning non-probationary) that is not going to expire within the next 6 months
- Must supply a criminal record check (not needed to apply, but needed before work begins)
- Must possess a clean driving record
- Must be comfortable driving at night and in the winter
- Must feel comfortable working around others who are under the influence of alcohol and substances
- Must feel comfortable managing a small team of employees, including managing minor interpersonal conflicts, scheduling issues, and asking for help when needed
Additional assets:
- Experience with management and leadership
- Valid first aid training; if you do not have first aid, it will be provided to you at your expense via deductions from your pay
- Experience in safety work (e.g. Student Safety, Marshal, first aid)
- Experience driving a vehicle in a professional setting
- Familiar with safety and health services on campus
- Familiar with Microsoft Forms
- Bilingual (French-English)
