Job Title: SRC Extra Manager
Term of Employment: August 2024 – April 30, 2025
Expected Hours: Approximately 10-15 hours per week
Salary: $16.50 per hour
Job Summary: The SRC Extra Manager will be responsible for the support services and governing policies that the SRC provides to all social clubs, student associations, and academic societies and will act as the primary SRC liaison with these groups. The SRC Extra Manager will work closely with the Vice-President Student Life (VPSL) and will be under the supervision of the General Manager.
Requirements:
- Must be a full-time or part-time degree student, in good academic standing, at Bishop’s University, enrolled for the 2024-25 academic year.
- Must be in good standing with Campus Security and the Vice-Principal of Student Affairs office
- Must be present at Bishop’s University from August 2024 – April 30, 2025
- Must be willing to place their duties as SRC Extra Manager above all other non-academic responsibilities.
Nature of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for delivering support services for all social clubs, student associations, philanthropic groups and academic societies.
- Works with the Athletic Programming and Coaching Advisor to support sports clubs.
- Responsible for implementing the SRC Extra Handbook and SRC policies affecting SRC Extra Groups. as well as for reviewing those policies and recommending any changes to them.
- Responsible for ensuring that all SRC Extra leads are adequately trained and respecting all SRC and University policies that apply to them, including: the SRC Extra Handbook, athlete code of conduct, general code of conduct, waivers, insurance requirements, etc.
- Ensures that SRC Extra groups submit reports and other documentation on time.
- Organizes and facilitates SRC Extra Orientation at the start of the Fall semester, followed by a second Orientation in the Winter semester for all new SRC groups.
- Organizes other training as may be required, such as mid-semester town halls or other events.
- Manages storage space and all other equipment and space granted to groups by the SRC.
- Assists SRC Extra representatives with booking venues as necessary.
- Updates and maintains SRC Extra information on the SRC website, including application forms, reports, etc.
- Assists with SRC Extra groups promotion via social media
- Stays up to date on the status of the Gaiter Grants funding budget with the assistance of the SRC Director of Finance.
- Provides support to SRC Extra groups on all applications/requests (Gaiter Grants Committee, applications for external funding, etc.)
- Investigates opportunities for external funding for SRC Extra groups and informs them of these opportunities
- Organizes a minimum of one SRC Extra Day per semester (one in the Fall semester for all students and one in the Winter semester for all students), for groups to showcase their activities and recruit members.
- Ensures that groups are accessible to interested students.
- Works with the Accounting and Administrative Coordinator to maintain an up-to-date record of active and inactive groups and contact information for each.
- Informs the SRC Board of Student Representatives) of any changes to group status (inactive/active) and recommends which groups are placed on/removed from probation.
- Acts as steward of the Oasis meeting space, ensuring that it is a welcoming space that meets group needs.
- Answer and monitor the BU Extra email and address questions and concerns in a timely manner.
- Assist groups with the ratification process and evaluate if they are addressing a gap in our campus.
- Meet and collaborate with executive members and BSR members as needed.
- Attend meetings and provide feedback and help generate new ideas about BU Extra groups
Skills Required:
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (French written and verbal communication skills are an asset).
- Comfortable giving presentations (e., SRC Extra Orientation and training sessions)
- Demonstrated ability to address conflict.
